As Indigenous West Papuans, we carry a profound duty to speak the truth about the oppression, colonialism, racism, genocide, and ecocide we grew up witnessing in our homeland. Each of us came to the United States to study, searching for safety and opportunity, yet the pain our families continued to face never left us. Living in a place that calls itself the land of the free only sharpened our understanding of what our people have been denied. We chose to stay and advocate because their struggle is our story, their survival is our responsibility, their cry is our cry, and their victory will always be our victory.
